This Homophobic Dolce & Gabbana Tee Is Making My Eyes Burn

If you’re looking for a place to spend your hard-earned money, make sure it’s not on this T-shirt.

On Friday, fashion designer Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana posted a T-shirt on his Instagram account. The plain black tee had the words, “I’m Not Gay, I’m a Man” posted on it.

People on Instagram are slamming the fashion designer for the shirt’s caption, claiming it’s homophobic.

“I prefer being shirtless than using this piece of crap,” one commenter wrote.

“Shame on you,” said another.

Gabbana recently said that he doesn’t want to be labelled as gay, the Guardian reported. “I don’t want to be called ‘gay’, because I’m simply a man … full stop,” Gabbana said. “The word ‘gay’ was invented by those who need to label people, and I don’t want to be identified by my sexual choices.”

Gabbana has angered LGBTQ fans of the brand before for hissupport of Melania Trumpwearing his designs. He’s posted several shots of thefirst lady wearing his clothes on social media. Gabbana, who once againjust to clarifyis gay, has said that he doesn’t believe gay couples should be allowed to adopt children.

Earlier in 2017, the fashion brand came under fire for selling shoes sporting the slogan, “Thin & Gorgeous.”

Gabbana’s shirt joins the ranks of other gay-themed tee shirts to bring internalized homophobia to new levels. In 2016, fashion designers Marek + Richard came under fire for making a “No Fats, No Fems” T-shirt on their site. The designers were quick to respond to allegations of femmephobia by saying the shirt was “satire.”

INTO reached out to Dolce & Gabbana for comment and will update the story if we hear back.
